I was sitting at my computer asking myself “Why would anyone come to this website?” Why would anyone do it on purpose? Something came to me.
Everyone wants community. My own research found that 33 million American adults think being more involved in the community is extremely important AND they did something in the last week to be more involved. That’s a lot of people. More than 10% of the population.
But I think investment in community is like investment in ice cream. If I want ice cream… and come to think of it, I do, and now probably you do too… but if I want ice cream, I don’t go make it, I go get some.
Lucky for us, there are enough people making ice cream and we can go get some.
Who makes community?
We all know people who do – they are very active in bringing people together, invite people over, suggest get-togethers, but… is that the same as making community? I think not.
Making community would be more intentional. Nah… let me say it another way… this website is being written for those who really intend to make more community.
You know what? I don’t think there is a plan in place for how to do that.
Well, that’s a game changer. Let me get back to you on this…
Unless, and always, of course, YOU have some ideas on this and would like to share them in “comments.”
